My Experience as Research Officer

September 20, 2008

When your training was towards the end of 9th months, each executive trainee was given a chance to choose a department or branch he preferred to work. I chosed to work in Research Department. Until today, I still do not understand why I chose the department. Since I don’t have any experience in banking operation, I should not choose the reseach division as my first choice.

I did remember my first assignment was to prepare a bulletin on soya bean. The bulletin would be distributed to all bank pertanian branches as a guideline to credit officers when entertained potential customers who wanted to get loan to finance soya bean crop. Among the contents of the bulletin were yield per acre, viability, profitability, cash flow analysis, market potential, technical analysis and management.

Start With A Trainee Executive

September 20, 2008

When I was appointed as an employee, I have received a letter that I have to undergo an Executive Trainee Program for a period of ninth monts. About 60 new executives were appointed. Most of the months we were at the Head Office, attended lectures and solved many case studies.

We learnt everything about the bank operations. Since the bank’s core business is loan activities, much of the times we learnt about loan management. This includes loan enquiry, how to process a loan, loan approval, loan drawdown and loan collection. In loan processing, we learnt about preparing cash flow, calculating NPV (net present value), IRR (internal rate of return). In relation to loan processing/loan appraisal we learnt about reading and preparing balance sheet and income statement.
